Magic Johnson: What Is the Passing Gain Worth Here?
Magic makes the passer-versus-scorer choice hard to ignore. In the 82-0 game, read the APG gain alongside the scoring you would give up, then check where the card can go.
Compare creation with the scoring price
When Magic and a higher-scoring guard are both legal choices, begin with the APG difference. Then turn to the points you would surrender. Neither number should disappear just because you prefer the idea of a great playmaker.
| Question | On Magic's card | On the other guard |
|---|---|---|
| How much does creation change? | The displayed APG advantage or deficit | The passing contribution retained if you choose the scorer |
| How much does scoring change? | The PPG you keep with the passer | The actual extra PPG, rather than a reputation for scoring |
| What else changes? | RPG, SPG, BPG and permitted destinations | Those same fields and any competing destination requirement |
A passing lead can coexist with a scoring deficit. Record both before you read the remaining fields. The card comparison explains how to describe a mixed row without adding unlike units.

The creator still supplied scoring
- 19.5 PPG
- Completed regular-season career scoring average
- 11.2 APG
- Completed regular-season career assist average
Those retired-career figures explain a profile built around passing without reducing Magic to a player who only passed. A franchise-period version can differ, so use them as recognition anchors and read the dealt numbers for the actual choice.
“He makes teammates better” describes basketball intuition. It does not supply a game coefficient for converting an assist into bonus PPG. The assist explanation keeps the passing credit separate from the teammate's scoring.
The center story answers a different question
In his rookie Finals clincher against Philadelphia, with Kareem absent, Magic jumped center and produced the three totals below. It is a memorable example of real basketball versatility. It cannot tell you whether the game's current Magic card is labeled for C.
One historical championship-clinching game. These are event totals, separate from the two career averages above.
Carry the role question through three checks
- What happened in basketball?
The Finals account explains a role Magic took in that particular game.
- What does this card permit?
The position list on the current card identifies the game's supported destinations.
- What can the board use now?
The active action and the roster decide which of those destinations are offered.
The famous opening tip answers the first check. The last two need the actual card and board. Use the placement guide when the passer you want appears blocked.

Explain why you want this passer, including the scoring cost and the role the board actually permits.
