Assists Per Game: Which Creator Can You Use?
The highest assist average is useful only if you can place the card. This 82-0 game guide pairs a small role exercise with the scoring-pass rule behind APG.
Three creators, one open jersey
Which passing contribution can you use? In this exercise the other four jerseys are fixed; no move or swap is assumed. The invented positions make the restriction visible before you compare the assist leads.

Switch to PF: the highest APG card becomes unavailable, while the forward and center remain alternatives. Their difference is one APG, but also two PPG, four RPG, 0.4 SPG and 1.3 BPG in opposite directions. A passer's value to this choice is not settled by the assist column alone.
The pass that earns an assist
- 1
A player makes a qualifying last pass.
- 2
The receiver scores a field goal directly from that pass.
- 3
The passer receives the assist credit.
APG averages those credited assists over appearances. It records the scoring pass, not every pass in the possession and not a blanket reward for involving a teammate.
Keep the passing number attached to its entry
In Classic, compare the APG shown for the dealt franchise and era. A player's career reputation might point you toward the row, but it cannot replace the row's number. A change of context may represent another part of the player's career.
In HoopIQ, you have a different task: recall whether that version of the player was a primary creator, a connective passer or someone who rarely supplied the final scoring pass. Those descriptions guide a memory judgment; they are not hidden numerical ratings.

One basket can produce two different credits
A scoring credit and a passing credit can describe the same possession. The scorer's points and the passer's assist still have different units. This small accounting sheet shows why the size of the basket does not multiply the assist.
| Made basket | Scorer's points | Passer's assists |
|---|---|---|
| Assisted two-point field goal | 2 | 1 |
| Assisted three-point field goal | 3 | 1 |
| Unassisted two-point field goal | 2 | 0 |
Adding “2 + 1” and calling it three team points would misread the first row. The game shows PPG and APG as separate roster inputs; keep them separate in your notes too. An assist average cannot reconstruct every teammate's points or the projection engine's weighting.
“I chose the forward for PF: one more APG and two more PPG than the center, with less rebounding and shot blocking.”
That is an explainable choice from the practice board. It names the legal role and the exchange without pretending to know the resulting win gain. For a broader comparison, use the five-category lab; for the dealt sample itself, use the averages workbench.
Look for the passing contribution where your actual board can use it.
